Lowline Angus
Bluson
About the Breed
Lowline Cattle are actually small framed Aberdeen Angus that come from Australia, where the original herd was developed from 42 of Canada and Scotland's finest Cow and Bulls.  The herd was then closed for a 30 year period to isolate the bloodlines, and to conduct an efficiency research period.
They were first brought into the United States in 1997 and are still a fairly new breed.  These naturally polled animals are generally 60% the size of normal cattle at all ages of their development.
They are sometimes referred to as Mini cattle, but are definitely a compelling beef breed, genetically bred for feed efficiency, excellence in structural correctness, fertility, early maturity, excellent muscling, strong maternal traits, docility and meat tenderness & marbling.
Feed Efficiency
Results in recent tests in Australia prove that Lowlines produce 95% more retail yield per acre than many more popular cattle breeds.
2 head of Lowlines can keep on the same size pasture as one full-sized cow, giving more choice cuts, higher percentages of dressed wight, and more pounds of meat per acre than with standard size breeds.  Which makes them the perfect choice for smaller acreage's, or "hobby farms".
Lowlines thrive on limited feed intake, thus lowering production costs, and finish nicely on grass alone, ultra sounding at CHOICE and CHOICE+ , without hormones.
Lowlines have 30% larger rib eye area per hundred wight which has shown an increase in boneless retail yield of 25-30%.  The cuts are smaller, but are generally considered much more flavorful, with one of the highest marbling rates of any breed.
Lowlines are bred purely with 65 years of genetic selection, which means no genetic defects.
They are simply high quality in a small dose!

Halfblood and 3/4 blood cattle are eligible for registry in the American Lowline Registry (ALR).  Fullblood Lowline cattle are all DNA parentage verified to the original Australian Lowline.
Docility
Lowlines are classified as "farm" animals, and could thereby qualify you for significant tax credits.  Because of their smaller size, they are the perfect "farm" animal as they are much easier to handle and limit some of the risks inherent in working with larger livestock.
Because of their excellent conformation and gentleness, they are wonderful 4-H animals, proving easy handling, even for younger children.
All of our Lowlines were lovingly raised and handled from the beginning, so they are extremely gentle and friendly.  They all approach eagerly and willingly  They (almost:) all lead with a halter .
Their docility is one of their greatest traits!   You absolutely cannot help loving these kind, gentle creatures!

Bluson
Is our Lowline herd bull and also our pride and joy!  He came to us from Lazy G Lowlines in Washington as a weanling, and right away we knew he was something special!
He is only a yearling, but his conformation is beautiful!
The thing we love about Bluson is his gentle nature.  From the very beginning he would follow Doug out of the pasture without a halter on, then walk obediently back through the gate when Doug did.  No kidding, this bull is an absolute sweetheart!
  * He attended his first National Stock show in Denver this past January, and was rated one of the lowest tenderness ratings of any breed in the history of the show!(at 16) WOW!
Go Blue!!!
